P90X Week 1 Recap

Day 1 - Chest & back.
Do some pull ups. Now some push ups. Now some pull ups. Now some push ups. Go throw up. Done? More push ups....and so on and so on. Then do a 15 minute ab routing with over 300 different kinds of crunches. If their goal was to establish that this program was no joke right from the start, they did it.

Day 2 - Plyometrics.
Your feet don't touch the ground for an hour. Jump. Jump and spin. Jump and twist. Jump sideways. Jump diagonally. Watch out for the cat's tail. My daughter didn't know whether to laugh at me or shoot me in the ass with a tranquilizer dart.

Day 3 - Shoulders and arms
Who would have thought that a solid hour of military presses and curls would be an "easy" day?

Day 4 - Yoga X
I'll admit it. Before this session, I thought yoga was for douchebags. I stand corrected. Watching me, with my complete lack of flexibility, struggle through 90 minutes of this torture must have been tantamount to watching a monkey fu*k a football. Kind of funny, but mostly sad. I have a new respect for yoga.

Day 5 - Legs and back
Brutal. My pipestem-like legs weren't ready for 58 minutes of lunge and squat variations. I may have crapped my pants at one point.

Day 6 - Kenpo X
This was actually a lot of fun. High energy, cardio-centric martial arts moves. Lots of kicks and punches. Looked funny as hell when I watched it back on tape in fast forward.

Tomorrow morning is back to chest and back. Fahhhhhhhhhhhhhkk.
